Rabbit/squirrel hunting in Morris/Sussex County

Looking to get out this coming weekend to hunt for squirrel and rabbits.  Looking for opinions on good spots in Morris or Sussex Counties as I’m located in Morris.  Growing up in PA we always had 4-6 beagles to help us out but I’ll be doing it on my own here as I don’t have a dog.  Looking forward to making a nice stew just like old times.  Any input is much appreciated.

Any forested WMA with fields and or power lines running through them will work.  Check out Weldon Brook,  Rockaway River,  Sparta Mt.

Sounds good!  I’ve noticed a lot of squirrels at black river but there’s a lot of bird hunting going on there still.   Thanks!

BR will quiet real fast since the stocking ended. We hunt there hard, very few rabbits. But just about anywhere there is overrun with squirrels. Good luck.

A couple of us have been hunting squirrels for a month or so in Black River in the hardwoods. Usually come home with a minimum of 3 each. Haven’t yet seen any rabbits though. Good luck !

Thanks!  Was thinking about using the 410 and seeing if I get lucky!

Get a pellet gun and hunt around yards cause that seams to be the place where the rabbits are any more. Squirrels are every wheres. Good luck

Thought about the pellet gun cause I have loads of squirrels even in the back of my house which is all woods.  It’s a possibility.  Thanks!
