Mallards and buffleheads painted up..

 

Steps:

Protect eyes from overspray

Paint black

Remove black to antique

Apply colors according to photos

Seal.

You don't NEED to use artificial heads, but the end product is much nicer. Quality reproduction heads aren't cheap, and that might be the difference frolm 1 guys price to the next..

But real Waterfowl bills will shrink/shrivel so IMO way worth the $.

Plus the skulls are difficult to get clean and attach wires to.

 

Artificial heads are a win win.
