trapperjake
I have a small 25hp Kubota with a 3pt hitch. Was wondering what you would recommend for preparing food plots. I have been looking at disc and tine tillers. Oo and if you have one for sale let me know. Thanks for any input. Jake

DV1
I have a 29 hp Kubota with a Woods 60 inch tiller. You can probably use the same one with a 25 hp tractor. I used it for years to do a few acres of food plots, worked well. I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation UNDER GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. tcook8296
Most people think they need lots of equipmentbto plant food plots, however, you can do a lot with just a back pack sprayer and a hand seeder. Clovers and brassicas can be planted this way. Clover can be planted next month with just a hand seeder. Check out frost seeding clover. I overseed my clover every year by frost seeding. http://deerhunterforum.com/index.php?threads/dbltrees-getting-started-threads.869/ http://www.outreachoutdoors.com/test/foodplots/clover/clover-as-a-cover-crop/ click on the menu the scroll down to the food plot section After you get your food plot prepped, you will need seed. Dont waste your money on fancy packages with big bucks on them. Read the labels on the back of them. Most of the bag contains coatings and fillers. https://meritseed.com/wildlife-food-plot-store/ Edited January 5, 2018 by tcook8296 Bucksnbows 1 www.liftxrentals.com
tcook8296
This one I like. Try this on your property, create a sanctuary. You will notice results after season one but after 3 years, you will be over run with deer. The browse created from hinge cutting will be just as good or better than any food plot you could plant http://www.outreachoutdoors.com/foodplots/hinge-cutting/ Edited January 5, 2018 by tcook8296 www.liftxrentals.com

Whitetail31
I have a 30 hp John Deere and I use a 48” tiller would have gotten a 60” but paid 300 for the 48” so couldn’t pass it up. After doing a Tonna food plots over the years I have started to do the throw and mow method. If you have not heard of this method you can YouTube videos on it or Check out Deer Hunter forums which has a big section for food plots with very knowledgeable members . This method works very well and it is very simple. What I do is spray a section with round up wait till it dies then I fertilize lime and seed then brush hog it the same day try to do it right before a rainstorm all of the thatch helps to keep the seeds moist and it is a unbelievable results . This message does not work for all seeds.

Didnt know what to expect with the weeds and grass being so high but it came in pretty good. I planted a brassica mix with wheat and rye Edited February 19, 2018 by tcook8296 www.liftxrentals.com
