Check out this snake

Definitely something I would not expect to see in single digit weather. A few years ago opening day of NY trout season there was snow on the ground still and the area maybe 3 feet around was a big lethargic water snake soaking up the sun. I thought was cool. He wouldn't even move when I was inches from him passing bye. He just looked at me like leave me alone. But I had to go that way it was all ice covered  ledge to get around him or I would have skirted him at a distance.

I doubt this is somebodies pet snake, pretty remote, far from houses, deadend road. There is a spring and some swampy wet ground about 50 yards away. I could see were something grabbed him right in the middle. And chewed his head off obviously. Pretty weird.

without me, my rifle is nothing
