1/6/17 South Zone report

The snow stopped a bit too early as we thought we would do really well in this spot with it. Didn't seem to matter today as the birds really flew well. And for late season birds, really worked the spread well. Everything we got was committed and over the decoys. The wind picked up right on cue and they came in perfect. The only problem was that this spot generally only produces Mallards and Blacks.

We did have some tools set up across the creek from us. Not to much of a worry except that they had no concept of decoy placement. Total wrong place for the wind and they were sky busters. I will never understand the 3.5 inch crowd. Decoy them well and all you need is a 20 gauge...lol. The other thing they did was to call to every group that was working our spread.

Had a flock of about 14 blacks come in perfect. Would have been a great time for a two bird limit on them as it was really hard not to let loose with the other two shells in the gun!
