  1. My 3 buddies and I were on our way back to the truck from small game hunting and a car was parked on the dirt road we were walking down heading out. We didn't really think much of it since someone else could have been hunting, but as luck would have it a guy and girl were going full at it. The look on their faces when they saw 3 guys with guns passing by... i actually felt kinda bad lol. Another time I was archery hunting and my stomach was not doing well that morning. I set up my stand, climbed back down in a hurry and ran to the 1st log I could find. 2 hours later I'm looking around and see a camera pointed in the direction I let loose. I sincerely apologize to anyone if they ever had to see those photos.
  2. Here's a pic of one I made when I was around 12. Decent but had room for improvement, not the perfect crotch but a good one. My dad still has one somewhere around that is super symmetrical and just perfect- stained in walnut. FYI- these are in PA. Wouldn't use them now anyway, but wish my kid could use one someday in NJ for some target fun, but not likely.
  3. curious if any of you guys are familiar with how my grandfather taught me to make slingshots. He was from PA and was likely making them in the 1940's. He would specifically use maple branches that were symmetrical and had a middle branch, so three branches together. He taught me to cut out the middle branch with a knife, which created a gap between the two outside branches. Then at the top of the two remaining branches (cut to size) tie string at the notches and tighten it together to make the branches create a U shape. Then put it in the oven for a little bit to dry it out and have the branches stay in place. I still have one or two laying around and they are really the best homemade slingshots i've ever seen. They used inner tubes that had real rubber back in those days. When I was younger inner tubes being synthetic didnt work well. I used exercise bands which seemed to be the best.
  4. Thanks guys! So im going with a combo stategy for now. I ordered the portable ac/heat unit to buy me some time. Then I plan to order a mini this week to install within the month. Looking at Mr Cool, Perfect Aire, Alpine, the morseso DIY ones.Still figuring out which one to go with though.
  5. @coyoteslayer - You would know better than me, but don't I then have to vacuum the line, braze or flare or whatever that means for the right size? Im sure I could get the proper vacuum and gauges for that part, but the brazing aspect idk if I would feel confident in.
  6. Thanks guys I appreciate all the feedback. I do think long term the mini split is likely the best route to go. Although, my daughter needs to move upstairs quickly as we have a 2nd coming next month. With the higher cost for the mini/install I am thinking a portable ac/heat unit may be best. Then within the next month or so I can install a mini myself. I do have a lot of carpentry experience and renovated most of my 1st floor myself so feel I can do that and higher an electrician for the home run line. Anyone have any do's or don't with what split unit to look into fir DIY? I do like the MR Cool as the lines come precharged making that aspect of things easier since i don't have hvac gauges and what not. I also heard their customer service can be a challenge but I guess that can be the case with a lot of companies.
  7. That could be an issue still. I did play with them a bit, although I think the issue is that the duct run is that last on the line and might just not get enough force.
  8. Hey guys, question for those who might have more HVAC experience than I do (which is very limited). I live in a Cape Cod and the upstairs is always too cool in the winter or hot in the summer. My daughter is moving upstairs in a few weeks and I'm trying to find a solution to at least keep her room at a comfortable level. The other upstairs bedroom is my home office and I just throw a window unit in during the summer which works fine for my needs since I'm not up there all that much. I have gotten some mini split quotes which are more than I was was planning for this project, but I'm not sure if there are any other somewhat economical solutions. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks!
  9. You can probably take a small rod our pencil wrapped with lite sandpaper. Otherwise buying a sharpening rod is prolly best.
  10. I have an old 6 hp evinrude (1970's maybe). Haven't used it in probably 10 yrs been it always ran good. You can have it if you want.
  11. Let me know if any 300 Sav is left. Thanks
  12. I didn't see that so thanks for clarifying as I clearly missed that.
  13. I've been trying to keep up with most of this, but I haven't seen anyone identify him? I think that is the respectful way to go about things. I always believe in 3 sides to a story so I'm not jumping to any conclusions on either side. Although, I don't know how anyone specifically is being crucified then if they are not being named. Unless the description gives him away all that easily......
  14. Very cool. How did you go about fixing the tine? My biggest buck is mounted and the g2 & g3 are cracked. Wondered about maybe fixing it some day.
