Good? Bad? OK? - Taxi Review

I try not to critique others work unless the taxidermist themselves ask me to..

But here. Use the photos in this thread and not down what you find to be different from the live deer compared to your mounts.. then list them here and we can see how you do...

Ok, I will play This is the deer in first two pics.:

  1. Too much space between Ear butt and antlers
  2. From the first picture it looks like the ears aren’t leveled. (maybe that’s just the angle of the shot but they don’t look leveled to me
  3. No muscle detail near the earbutt
  4. Ears are not turned down as they should be when they are pulled back
  5. From the side view the ears aren’t lined up correctly with the bottom of the eye and deer nose. They look too low to me. Perhaps if the ears were turned down correctly the line would improve.

Cool.  There was a huge price difference between the first deer and the other two.  I did learn that it is a PIA to take pics that don't make the animals look too stretched out or deformed and yes, the lighting sucks.  They are in my basement.

I see all of them as a huge waste of money.  I look at all the coin and wonder sometimes why I didn't spend it on other stuff.  Especially since, as I get older, I realize that no one wants them or even gives a shit about them, except for me.  And in NJ since you can't sell them (which I will anyway (if I can find a buyer when the time is right), that's a stupid law) what do you do?  Throw them in a dumpster, or donate them - either way it becomes junk.
