Mushroom id

Got a lot of these popping up on stumps in the woods on my property and the deer seem to enjoy them. Any ideas of what it is.

Might be chicken of the woods.

Chicken of the woods only grows on wood the deer eating it so it's good.

Yes I know Bob I've been picking them for the past week.  The one he has I. The picture is past its prime it looks like.  First one I saw was a month ago.

Thanks good to know. The wife was wondering and thought so when she googled it. However we are not looking to eat them unless it was confirmed in person.

Chicken of the woods is one of the easiest to identify and there's really. Nothing that resembles it.  The only thing that is mildly close to them is jack o la tern mushrooms but even they aren't that close.

Also very tasty, I sautée mine in oil and salt.and pepper once it's browned take off add sliced garlic and onions or shallots.  Sautee those then add the mushrooms back and a splash of white wine and mix around with a small amount of lemon juice.  Once wines absorbed by mushrooms eat em up.
