I personally don’t like them, dangerous way too often but we’ve taken lots on club leases. I’d still rather not see any.  Than the darn cleaning for hardly nothing. We even save the heart, liver, gizzard but it’s not worth it imo. 
 

They are stocked for dog training before season..  last year I put one up in November

I agree they are not very smart birds. Very unlikely any survive long after stocking in October for dog training. I sometimes buy a few and release them in January and February to give my dog some action after the pheasant stocking has ended.  They are very hard to flush. Almost have to kick them and not strong flyers. Usually only go a short distance.
