Was at the Thunder Mountain trap range today and on the way back drove through Ramapo Mountain State forest. Aside from a ton of people at every access point I also passed A TON of deer on the side of the road. I’ve always heard that this was a bear paradise but very little on the deer front. Anyone have experience or insight?

Like an old Maine guide once told me-"The deer are where you find them". And there is a lot of truth in that. Like most of the places that I have hunted in NJ- the deer are in different places at different times of the year.

They come to road sides this time of year to eat the salt.

So take a couple hundred pounds of Road salt, spread it on the shoulder and set up 15 yards off the road.
