Thinking on going trad only

just hunt and have fun with a legal weapon of your choice - it's all good.   I think a better way to challenge oneself is to stop shooting dinks, and hold out for a mature buck. If you can get two mature bucks a year - even better.    To each their own.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, ultimately it's all about the chase, and outsmarting the deer.    At the end of the day, we all have our own standards like -

  •  Brown its down - fill the freezer
  • Shoot a buck - any buck
  • Shoot a decent buck
  • Fill all buck tags
  • Shoot a big mature buck each year or eat your tag
  • Hunt trad only
  • Crossbow only
  • Compound only
  • Hunt with all 3 legal archery weapons
  • And the permutations are endless - many of us are like-minded, but we all have our own preferences.

Ironic I bought it from the OP!  LOL.     Yeah I had time to shoot it TWICE in 2018, so hunting with it just ain't happening.  Barely shot my new TRIAX although it performed well on a 20 yard doe on the opener...  I need to at least shoot that once or twice a week as it gets colder and more and more clothes and gloves come into the picture.

I have not been this busy work-wise in 5 years, it impacts everything.

Nothing spooks deer more than my stank…

Or Your LONGBOW!

Ephesians Chapter 6:12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Joshua Chapter 1:9
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
