Pulled Rabbit BBQ Sammiches

Wife left me at home to fend for myself for dinner. Since she doesn't like wild game, I decided this was a good time to take out some frozen rabbit I have in the freezer and make myself some pulled rabbit BBQ.

I haven't made this before, but I was surprised at how well this came out! I got the ingredients list from here. I give it a thumbs up.

In case anyone wants to try it - here you go - super easy (I bet you could do the same with squirrel or turkey meat, too):

:cook: :

Ingredients
1 rabbit, cut into pieces (legs, thighs, back)
2 Tbsp butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, chopped
Dash salt
2 cups water or chicken stock
4 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp chili powder
4 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
4 Tbsp vinegar
1 tsp Tabasco
1 cup ketchup

Directions:

1. Place all the ingredients in a slow cooker and stir to combine.

2. Place pieces of rabbit into the slow cooker.

3. Cook on low for about 7 hours, until the meat pulls easily off the bone.

4. Take meat out of slow cooker, pull meat off bone, and place meat in a bowl.

5. Further shred the meat with forks or just pull apart by hand.

6. Add several tablespoons of your favorite BBQ sauce to taste into the meat and mix the meat to coat. Don't use a lot of BBQ sauce, just enough to add some additional flavor.

7. Put meat on bread or roll for delicious pulled rabbit BBQ sammiches.

One normal-sized rabbit can easily make 2 sammiches if not more.

And that's your green grocer tip for the day. :acclaim:

Sorry - I ate it all so fast I didn't take a pic :)

When done, it looked something like this though - just slap some of this on a roll.. mmmmm:

That's better. Never had pulled rabbit but I love rabbit in general.

BTW my wife will not cook or eat wild game like yours, but I cook it and eat it at least twice/week. Some meals last two day as well:-)
