Moultrie Silent Feeder - Any good?

Rusty

Recommended Posts

I have several small collapsible Moultrie feeders that use 4 AA batteries.

No pics on cam, was wondering why until tonight when I was on stand....It was silent all right. Never went off whatsoever, although brand new batteries were put in last week... :banghead:

Pulled it out in the dark, wasn't a fan of the feeder in this spot anyway......

I thought the sound of the feeders attacked deer? And was part of the point, Am I wrong? I haven't used one yet.

It's for a residential area, to pull deer to a safe place to shoot, but I don't want to draw the attention of the locals.

Had a Moultrie tripod feeder and I damn near fell out of my stand every time it went off.  I would expect it and it would still make so much noise.  They would run off if under it but come back soon after.

We have several Moultrie feeders and they are definitely loud but, I've never had any of them spooking deer. But, they are unreliable. They do clog up easily. Make sure that you use clean corn. Otherwise, they clog up.

I hear you.

I was hunting in one community and they had a white deer that they didn't want shot.  That stupid deer did the same thing every day.  It would come in 10 minutes too early and it would stand right under the feeder and stare up at it in pure terror.  When the feeder went off that deer would take off like it's tail was on fire.

Dd you put one of those plastic funnels inside?  It kept the corn always coming out.
