Barnegat Inlet

I took a ride to LBI last Sunday to see if the sea ducks arrived yet. No they didn’t, I didn’t find one. If you ever in the area in the winter walk the jetty at Barnegat Light and you will not be disappointed with the numbers of some unbelievably beautiful ducks up close. Harlequins, Scoters, Eiders, Mergansers, loons and others.

 

What I did find is one single juvenile Tern still fishing the inlet, a bunch of Ruddy Turnstones, Dunlins, Sanderlings, all in winter plumage already. The only bird in the water was a fishing Cormorant.

The big surprise was maybe a dozen or more Brown Pelicans on Island Beach State Park side of the inlet.

 

I hate going there when fishing is still on. Almost every time I get to some serious altercations with people keeping shorts and fish out of season. Sunday was no different and I went at it with two different groups, both Orientals, who were keeping tiny Black Fish and Seabass. They could have a game warden on this jetty 24/7 and he would never stop writing tickets.

Saw an oriental ona jetty in south jersey. Throwing small tog in a bucket. Went over to confront him. He said he was new to fishing. Didn’t know the rules. I started cracking up. He was using an Accurate reel

One of them had 4 black fish, about 4 t0 6 inches just laying there on the rock. When I said to him this is illegal fish he said I am not keeping them. Well if you are not, I said,Then you better get them in the water now or you will be flying with them. He did but its still sucks because how many illegal fish is taken this way. I get so mad I am surprise someone didn't kick my ass yet on that jetty.

Well if you are not, I said,Then you better get them in the water now or you will be flying with them. He did but its still sucks because how many illegal fish is taken this way. I get so mad I am surprise someone didn't kick my ass yet on that jetty.

Hopefully you will be ok, I heard Bruce Lee died awhile back.
