I have lost too many chickens to hawks, fox, and raccoons (raccoons are the worst) so I no longer raise them.

Been there.  We are fairly lucky given living in a pretty rural area with woods. Lost 2 to hawks free range. Now I don’t even put a top on the large run just fishing line with some fancy wind spinners.  Hawks sit right about and never try anymore.  It was pretty impressive though how quick the hawk nabbed them lol
