How long do deer nurse for.

Watching deer move through the woods with the kids at home.  A deer born this year is currently nursing. It’s not super small and no sign of spots etc.  how long do deer nurse for and if they are still producing milk will they not come into heat?

According to Deer & Deer Hunting, when a does begins estrus she will not nurse her fawns.

Remember that here in NJ, does are bred from October into February.  That spreads out the age of our fawns over nearly four months.
