Wildcat Ridge WMA is even closer.  Just thinking of other lands you can hunt.  My uncles grew up in Wayne hunting the many open lands there back in the late 40s and early 50s.  That ship sailed long ago!  You also have Norvin Green State Forest nearby in West Milford and surrounding towns to check out for deer.

I'm sending you a PM with some info that should be helpful. I won't do all the homework for you, because I also hunt the same area on occasion, but it should be a great start for you since you're completely new to the area.

All these other recommendations from everyone are really good too.

“I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target, but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature’s way of fang and claw and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow.” – Fred Bear

I was thinking of venturing out to Norvin park Saturday. Thanks to the responses I have some homework to do before the weekend.
