Bucksnbows
I thought an awful lot about buying an AR during the Obama administration yet never pulled the trigger, pun intended. But now with Murphy coming in as NJ Governor, I felt I couldn't wait any longer and treated myself to an early Christmas gift, a NJ compliant M&P (.223/5.56) and topped it with a Vortex SPARC sight. I have yet to shoot it, but that will come very soon. My question is about buying spare magazines. Seems there are so many options for either a 10 or 15 round mag. I know Magpul gets good reviews and my weapon came stock with an ASC mag. Do I want aluminum or stainless? Do I want a "blocked" 20 round mag that only holds 15? I know there will be many opinions out there, but I'm looking for some consensus. Was hoping to pick up one more 10 round and a pair of 15s once I decide, just to have on hand. And looking for quality and function over low price. I appreciate any help I can get as the AR platform is fairly new to me. https://www.troutscapes.com/ https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board
Haskell_Hunter
Technical note: a .223/5.56 is an AR-15. A .308/7.62 is an AR-10. With that, here are the mags I got. Love them. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/765895/magpul-pmag-m3-magazine-ar-15-223-remington-556x45mm-300-aac-blackout If you actually have an AR-10, I got a bunch of these and will be taking them to the range to see if they work as well as the AR-15 mags. More than likely they will. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/966934/magpul-pmag-lr-sr-gen-m3-magazine-lr-308-sr-25-ruger-precision-rifle-308-winchester-polymer Sapere aude. Audeamus. When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.
cappy
You can't ever go wrong with Magpul. They are light, tough and proven in combat. I prefer the 10 round and 20 round pinned to 15. The 30 round mags are to long for range use off a bench. Bucksnbows
BothBarrels
I'm no expert. I have one AR-15 that I built out of parts. The stripped lower was S&W M&P, the rest is from a variety of manufacturers. But, we've put gazillions of rounds through it. Rapid magazine changes, etc All I have is blocked 20-round Magpuls, that I've bought from various online retailers. Never had any kind of glitch with them. Have fun. I have an AR-15 and am looking for both 10 and 15 round mags. I can see why you might have thought I was saying I had an AR10 and/or an AR15. I did add caliber in my post so folks would know I meant I have an AR-15. https://www.troutscapes.com/ https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board
Bucksnbows
I had a feeling Magpul would come up often. Thanks and please feel free to comment further. I'm a newbie on the AR platform. This AR is just for paper punching unless the you-know-what hits the fan one day. I find them just flat out fun to shoot.
