Seeing Wood Ducks

Last night had a few Woodies land in our small creek behind my house after Thunderstorm. Come on October! Anyone else seeing some ducks?

I have plenty of woodies in my back yard. In the early Spring last year I had around 50. Every year the number grows a little. Right now they look pretty scruffy after the molt.

I'm always ready for duck season. Being a waterfowler is kind of a year round thing for me though.

 

If you're serious about waterfowl you should join DU and Delta waterfowl. Both do a lot to help waterfowl hunting. DU is more on a national level and Delta is more local.

Been seeing lots of woodies, but just a very few big ducks, but, the spot I Hun is over grown with water chestnut, leaving the ponds one giant mat! But it was all hit with herbicide and the stuff is dieing off.

I strategically began getting ready for the upcoming season , I always said if I was to get back into it I was going to do right or at least attempt too , that being said duck and geese is running about 150.00 a pound and we haven't even pulled the trigger yet , and of course those numbers can fluctuate do to hit or miss percentages versus the days giving up the tree stand for a sit in the duck boat !
