Zone50BugNerd
Some interesting and needed research (click link below) coming out of the New England Center of Excellence in Vector-Borne Diseases research at University of Massachusetts Amherst. Deer are vitally important to the survival of deer ticks, but they are not involved with transmitting the Lyme bacteria, Borrelia burgdorferi ( I am sure most of you knew that). White-footed mice, eastern chipmunks, shrews and other small rodents are the enemy in the disease cycle. Anyway, cool research, could better inform future prevention. Their next project will be to see if this is something that can be induced in humans, or to somehow use this knowledge to reduce the incidence of Lyme disease in the wild. https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/vbz.2022.0095 Pathman, electric10162 and DJ0808
