It's more about feeding then baiting. It claims sudden introduction of large amounts of corn can be fatal. 

I guess if you are baiting for months prior to the dead of winter they get adjusted to it.

This would apply more to non-hunters feeding deer and harming them in the process.

This is an old article, I believe we had a pretty lengthy discussion here last year about this topic.  
you are correct, it’s the sudden introduction of large amounts of corn to deer that have no exposure to it prior. Jersey deer have access to corn, it’s never been an issue here to my knowledge.

I only give them enough for a snack not a pile for a meal.

If corn killed deer jersey would be void of them. I’d like to see a survey or hear now many pounds of corn are bought for baiting deer each year in jersey. I’m sure it’s allot. Jersey deer are fed well lol🤔
