That's interesting.  I have never thought about that too much.  Whether birds will be heavier later in the season, as more food becomes available, or whether they would be lighter like the deer during the rut.

If you looked at his lower abdomen, you'll notice feathers worn off from rubbing/breeding. They do alotta running around chasing in the spring, no different from bucks in November.
