Built a chicken coop extension

I used cedar posts also for my chicken run. Did you put wire or plastic netting over the top? I had to put it on mine as the hawks were picking them off.

I've had them in my yard since summer.. all day, alone, haven't lost any to hawks although recently every time I go outside I see a hawk take off from a nearby roost, that's why I decided to go ahead and finally do this.

I used wire on the top and sides. .. has holes in it like 2"×3". Black coated from lowes. 6ft×50ft was $65

I didn't have a problem for a long time either and then all of a sudden it was like open season! lol  Red Tail one day got two and about 2 days later there was a small falcon sitting on top of one.  That's when I put wire over the top.

2x3 wire sounds like it should be 'open' enough for snow to pass though.

Its that wet sticky snow that sometimes accumulates on wire that you gotta watch out for.

I got logs across the top to help support the weight if that happens.. i may put a roof section on half of it to keep snow out

Swing by when your passing through, I'll show it to ya.. this thing is solid... until a tree falls on it..

its a investment that will pay for itself, you should be able to pull 4 to 5 fox a year off of it, a few coons also

Nice work!

The wire on top will keep Hawks and Fox out. Saw that, live action ...

Secure the outdoor feed/water and the racoons won't dig under to get it.

Good luck!1487709299278.jpeg
