NJAC 13: 54-3. 14 (b). Read the entire section. Specifically the last two sentences that pertains to any ammunition that is interchangeable between rifles and handguns. Then, call the NJSP Firearms Unit to confirm.

This??

 No record need be maintained for the sale or disposition of shotgun or rifle ammunition. However, sales or other dispositions of ammunition intended for use in any other firearm and which may be interchangeable between rifles and handguns, as well as hollow-nosed or dum-dum ammunition, must be recorded. The records shall be maintained in chronological order by date of acquisition and disposition and shall be kept at the location the business is being conducted.

Only states a record must be recorded,,,,, again where does it say a FID is required??????????

heres the whole subsection,,,and it pertains to record keeping;

(b)  Every retail dealer of ammunition shall maintain a permanent record of ammunition acquisition and disposition. The record of purchase or acquisition shall consist of invoices or other commercial records, which shall be filed in an orderly manner separate from other commercial records maintained. Such records shall show the name of the manufacturer, the type, caliber or gauge, quantity of the ammunition acquired in the transaction, the date of each acquisition and from whom received. The record of sale or disposition shall be maintained in a bound form and shall contain the date of the transaction, name of manufacturer, caliber or gauge, quantity of ammunition sold, name, address and date of birth of purchaser, and identification used to establish the identity of purchaser. The dealer shall confirm the age of the purchaser of rifle and shotgun ammunition to be at least 18, and handgun ammunition to be at least 21.

I'm sorry but I absolutely have to disagree and stand firm on what I have posted, linked, and highlighted.  I have done read all you ave said to read and have yet to see it mention anywhere an FID to purchase 22 LR ammunition or any shotgun/ rifle ammunitions.

Unless you can prove otherwise I am done with this conversation,  standing  by what I have said and not calling anybody as there is no need to.

And sorry to the OP to have high jacked your post.

I'm tapping out. You are incorrect, but win. I know some people very close to me that deal with this daily. The info I'm giving  you is solid and correct by statute. Call the NJSP at 609-882-2000 extension 6612 to confirm.

Why are some people so obstinate when someone is trying to help and provide Facts and transactions.  NJ requires FID & Drivers Lic.  and requires logging in all Pistol Ammo.  FACT.  I made an order from the Sportsman out of state recently because I could not get the subsonic 22s I wanted. For whatever reason I only had to check off I was 21 yo.  3 days later it was Left on my front steps. marked -Ammo? do rules differ yes in NJ NO, All Pistol Ammo is controlled by NJ.          In Alaska at Fred Myers, I bought rifle slugs Alaska requires all ammo bought requires a Drivers Lic. They escort you from the Gun Department to the register and out the door.  FACT Any firearm purchases is Reciprocal to the state on the drivers LIC.

They aren't making up any gun control rules. It is a NJ law and they are complying with it. Any caliber ammo that can fired from a handgun requires the buyer to have a  NJ FID card as per NJ law. Refer to NJ 2C58-3.3.b and NJAC 13:54-3.14.(b)

Unless you buy online at the sportsman Outdoor Superstore with their Policy How long NJ will allow it is anyone's guess
