2017 Bear Season Dates ***Updated***

Heres the dates i got from the Fish and Game website. They are different from the original post.

He told me at first the week of the 16th a few days later he told Charlie the Taxidermist the 9th, and he wrote back to me with the correction

Heres what he sent me today around 3pm and he said check Oct and Dec in the calendar for the dates. Gotta request days off so Id like to know!

well something is screwed up.......I just wrote to Charlie and he confirmed that Paul told him the week of October 9th.....Maybe the truth will be out when the lawyers write the compendium for us all to decipher

So back in December 2016 I wrote to Paul Tarlow from NJF&G about the dates of the October 2017 bear hunt, at first he told me the week of October 16th, days later he told Charlie the Taxidermist and myself the corrected date is the week of October 9th, so I went and adjusted my vacation days at work.

 

Months later MattG1500 asked the same question and was sent the calendar you see above showing the week of October 16th as bear week.

 

I emailed Paul, and got a reply just now here it is:

 

I gave those dates based on what I found in the Game Code document ( http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/pdf/bear/policy_lit/cbbmp2015.pdf ) which states:

"The season for black bears shall consist of two segments. Segment A shall be a period of six consecutive days beginning on the second Monday in October."

The second Monday in 2017 is October 9.  PT
