Charlie Alsheimer's rutting moon theory says that this weekend's full moon should bring a large portion of the does into estrus.  Coincidentally, today I saw the first real good rutting activity of the year.  It will be interesting to see if things pick up this week.

i heard on the news that this is the closest the moon has been to earth in 69 years.

Couldn't get out today because of work, I drove around for about a 20 minutes before dark around my house to see what if anything was going on. Not seeing much rutting activity until tonight in that short drive saw 7 bucks everything from a big 8 to a spike in different fields around where I hunt behind my house and all of them had their nose to the ground trotting. Here in zone 27 it's on might have to take a few sick days this week.

Yes, they are calling tomorrow's full moon a super moon.  It will appear 14% bigger and 30% brighter.  It hasn't been this close since 1948.

I went to Washington Rock State Park in Greenbrook tonight with my wife and son. We met up with some in-laws who live in the area and we saw the "super moon". It actually was noticeably larger looking then normal.
