New to Striper Fishing

Hi all, 

I never went striper fishing.  I am planning on going out on November 9th with a buddy, who is also a beginner, and we need some advice.  Our plan is to go out on a boat from Barnaget and hopefully have a good time.  

 

Any boat recommendations would be recommended.  Any other helpful advice would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Go on a 6pack charter boat. You will learn a lot more and smaller boats are able to change tactics easier then a head boat. Example is trolling.

The fall run has not really started some good catches in the Sandy hook Raritan Bay Area. again things are changing very slow with all the Warm Waters. Not many head boats trying at $80 1/2 day it is a waste of time and Money. Surf full of Rain Fish with only Snappers on them.

I'd try & switch days if I were you. USUALLY after Thanksgiving is best, might even be later this year with the warm weather we've been having.

Get some plastic shads and sandeel profile lures (Ava's, etc)

Big fan of the PB&J jigs. Give em a try, they work!
