Woodduck boxes are in

Bought 2 more boxes offnof jakesbeard Saturday .. Just screwed them to the trees aro und the pond. Hopefully they get used this spring. I put the 1 i made out of tree slabs up just after the spring so I missed the nesting period .

Now I got 3 boxes up.

I wonder if I should raise them up higher? I know they should be in a post with a cone guard for coons but that's alot of work and I don't have the time to sink posts in the shale

When I moved where I am now, in 1990 I installed two of them. One was occupied and several small wood ducks hit the water. They only lived about 3 days because snappers ate them. Since, I took them down. Good luck

I keep saying I am going to make a bunch of them, put them up but I never do. In the Spring I have almost 50 at a time in my back yard eating corn chasing each other.

Yup, they need to go higher, and some kind of baffle to keep out nest raiders is a good idea to!

A very small wooded creek. That is why FEMA can justify charging me $2,600.00 a year for flood insurance in their ponzi scheme for a house that never flooded before...EVER. If it all works out this year I will have my mortgage paid off in less than 11 years and then they can go screw some else.
