Funny Story...

[Bully]

So I got in a tree yesterday.  I'm a Monday guy but sometimes I can't make it to the stand for various reasons.  Yesterday I did.  Went in the morning and saw a bunch of squirrels and a gorgeous red fox.  Otherwise quiet.  Sat from 545 to 9.  

 

Slipped out of the woods and headed home to re-charge and warm up.  Headed back in around 1.  On approach to my stand I bumped a couple of nice does.  I scooted up the ladder and hoped they would come back..  They never did.  Around 230 a nice, but little, 4 point came strolling around.  I had my arrow on the string but would have most likely passed as he was/is kinda small.   He caught sight of me after 20 minutes or so and took off.  

 

345 I hear some noise.  My stand is very close to where folks enter the woods.  Saw a guy come strolling in with a muzzy, walk about 75 yards and stop.  Slipped his muzzy off his shoulder and shoot.  30 minutes later I see him dragging one out.  He was in the woods for roughly 3 minutes, not counting field dressing.  

 

Location, location, location...

 

Not funny "haha!" just funny "ironic".

It was more than 3 minutes.I smoked two Marlboros before that big 12 point even thought about offering a shot. That darn little 4 point kept getting in the way. Well I still managed to get home for dinner.The last thing I need is to listen to the old lady carry on about how I shot another slammer. I tell her all the time. I say honey this deer season stuff only happens once a year for 6 months in new jersey for god sakes be a little more understanding. lol
