This is a white oak in my yard.  It is between 50-60 feet tall and green as grass, not a dead limb on it. This bark peeling started the last month.  Did it get a disease ? It is about 18 inches at the bottom.  Problem is about 15 feet from my patio. Any thoughts ?

It looks like something damaged the trunk a few years back and the bark is closing over the damaged area.  White oak is a hard wood that decays very slowly,  that tree will probably outlive all of us.
