hunterbob1 Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Back in 71 while camping out in the GREEN Mts In VT, deer hunting it snowed 2ft overnight.Closest I ever felt to how the 20th century mountainman must of felt.Five miles from the nearest house.Took most of the day,to make it to a road and hitchhike to town.Hurt for hours burning and itching from thawing out!I guess that was nothing like Maine or the rockies though, ever happen to you? “In a civilized and cultivated country, wild animals only continue to exist at all when preserved by sportsmen.” -Theodore Roosevelt
BHC Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 back in 1990 or so while hunting in Roscoe, NY we had a blizzard with 20" plus of snow with winds of 45+ mph. I went out hunting in it........stupid move!!!
Cousin Brown Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Yup, when I went to college in NH. We use to dig tunnels from one part of the campus to the other. Treestands don't demand, treestands don't complain, treestands simply ask me to sit down and listen.
bigwuhead Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Yep, went to college in VT. One winter we got multiple feet of snow every weekend for 3-4 weekends in a row. Ended up with 8'+. And you know what? There was still bread on the shelves. No beer, but lots of bread. And once skiing up at Sugarbush, but it's not really a blizzard to me it's just a good powder day once the wind dies down.
