A heads up, found this out the hard way.  Something we are not used to in NJ.  when your phone has to search to pickup a signal, it really drains your battery quickly.

You remind me that whenever I travel to a new place and notice my phone constantly searching for towers, I use this from Verizon to update any new towers so it searches less and saves battery life as a result:

 

To complete the Preferred Roaming List update:

1. Call *228 from your home coverage area.
2. When prompted, select 2 to update your phone's preferred roaming list. (This process may take up to 2 minutes.)
3. Once completed, a confirmation message will be played, and a message will display on the phone's screen.
