Lack of rain = lack of drinking water. Pedicels dry out faster and become weaker. Well, that's my theory at least.

I has to do with what the buck was eating during antler development and what is available for them to eat going into winter. That is what I was told by a state biologist some time ago.

Friend saw a shed buck this week in PA

I had 2 on my cameras about a month ago and I chalked it up to fighting.

According to what I read. Poor nutrition from possibly a habitat that cannot support the amount of deer. A buck that was rutting really hard and now is in poor condition.
