Olive- dyed Ring Neck Pheasant Butt & (Black) Bucktail - use any natural or dyed pheasant butt to "match the hatch" for the baitfish in your area, change the bucktail to match/contrast.

The pheasant but has such enticing movement!  My next try on this pattern will be an articulated version with the back weighted more than the front section.  It's a trick used in pike/muskie flies.  With the weight more in the back the front portion of the fly will jackknife if the fly is jerked quickly then stopped- most hits occur when the front of the fly gives the broadside look.  I want to see if this can be scaled down to this size fly (size 6, Mustad R75-79580).  We'll see this spring!  BTW, I picture the connection where the feather density changes.
