BHC
I know these woods very well. Last three hunts I started off each morning at the same tree. Day 1, I heard no gobbles. A single hen walked by me, then two jakes came in silent, no shot but I was able to call one back and I took him Day 2 very exciting hunt, at surise a bird gobbles about 100 yards away, we talk to each other for about one hour, finally a hen gets involved, I finally catch to them about 700 yards away and took him Day 3, yesterday, nothing at all heard...around 0730 I take a walk to the area i shot the bird on day 2. On my way there I heard a gobble, saw plenty of scratching, finally set up, let out some soft yelps, no reply but I caught them coming from a distance I assume both jakes, I rather shoot a gobbler they took off one running the other flew cause they saw a bear So tomorrow, do I set up at the original tree as I did the first three days or do I go straight to the area i shot my last bird and where I i saw to Jakes yesterday? I don't mind the run & gun game
Hunter99
I would go to where you shot him, if it is their pattern they may be there again same time. Or you may hear other birds since it is a different location, good luck!
