Are you a bowhunter or a deer hunter?

Recommended Posts

For those of you that hunt the bow season, how would you answer this question, and why?

Do you consider yourself a bowhunter or a deer hunter?

A deer hunter. I hunt with bow, shotgun, black powder, and rifle out of state. Bow is my preferred method though.

I consider myself as a Deer Hunter, who uses all legal methods to take game.

Bow during bow season, muzzleloader during all gun seasons.

Shotgun has been used for small game only the last few years.

I hunt every season and almost exclusively with the bow in nj but rifle out of state too.. There's something about the experience with the bow that makes the hunt better :)

Love my bow making me a bow hunter most of the time and rarely use a gun with exception to take long beards and bear here in NJ. But in the end of the day I am a hunter, which means there is no difference as we are just hunters.

SS!

I'll be deer hunting with a shotgun today, only the 3rd time I'm heading in with gun instead of bow this season so deer hunter for sure but with deer, becoming almost always bow hunting for deer.

I'm a deer hunter and prefer to use my shot gun, however useing a bow ( X Bow ) allows me to hunt places I wouldn’t normally be able to hunt, extends my season, is a lot of fun and so far seems to make it easier to keep the freezer full.. :acclaim:

For years I could only be considered a bowhunter, because it's all I used, never hunted with a firearm.

Around 2001 that started to change. Now I pick up the gun for coyotes/foxes, birds, bears, and even deer and turkeys on rare occasions. Still carry a bow more often than not, but I wouldn't want to have to choose one or the other. So I guess that makes me a hunter.

Rufous, what exactly are you trying to determine?

Your question makes no sense.

It’s a pretty straight forward question. Which is more important to you, the weapon that you use or harvesting deer?

For example . . . .

I consider myself as a Deer Hunter, who uses all legal methods to take game.

Deer hunter, I am a hunter of deer and enjoy all manners of legal deer harvest.

For years I could only be considered a bowhunter, because it's all I used, never hunted with a firearm.

Rufous, just to clarify, only half of the first quote was mine. Yes your question may straight forward, but it could be construed to be somewhat divisive. The "deer" in deer hunter is our common denominator, you may have a secondary connection with someone due to the particular method they prefer, but in the end we are all deer hunters. The more we focus on that, the stronger we are as a group. Not tryin to hammer you buddy, just my thoughts.

It’s all good. I’m just striking up some conversation on a cold day. :kissy:
