A cousin, who recently passed, made it her life's work to trace our family history, my mother's side of the family.  She traced it all the way back to an eleventh century Scottish knight!

Dad's side of the family - I was always told Irish, but his parents passed before I was born, and I know nothing beyond them.

Paternal grandfather was from County Cork , Ireland. Paternal grandmother is also Irish, but I don't know from where in Ireland. Maternal grandfather was an immigrant from Belguim; Maternal grandmother was born in the US to German parents.  No idea when they came here from Germany.

By son did the DNA Test a few years ago. It confirms what I thought about my ancestry and also confirms my wife (RIP) was 100% Irish.
