Best STEAK?

LPJR

Recommended Posts

Talking to a few members last night about this at the party....What is your favorite steak? It can be a cut, a type, (elk, moose) or from a restaurant, and which one... I am not a fan of a T-Bone. Little taste and is just there....I prefer a good fatty steak such as a beef ribeye, or a decent chuck steak, actually cooked at home.

I am sure many prefer good steakhouses, but with 3 kids none have seen us in recent years, lol...

Bone in grassfed ribeye, cooked medium rare over hardwood on my grill.

If I'm in the mood to go out locally, The Red Wolf Inn actually makes a great NY Strip.

James on Main in Hackettstown does a nice wood fired NY Strip too.

Char Steakhouse in Raritan does a great job too

Filet Mignon is my favorite cut and if I could have it from any animal it would go in this order

1. Dall Sheep 🥩

2. Moose 🥩

3. Elk 🥩

4. Deer 🥩

5. Beef 🥩

If I had to pick a favorite, I would say it's a Rib Eye, definitely cooked at home. IMO a steak rubbed with EVOO, seared in a VERY hot cast iron skillet, then finished under the broiler is better than a grilled steak. I do bounce around to some steakhouses in NYC, Del Frisco's and Keens are my top 2. Not cheap, but good steaks and good experience.  Still haven't made it to Peter Lugers yet, but it's on the list. Heard from a few people that it's over-rated but I gotta try it for myself.
