Electrical question

The idea of the gfi outlet is if you go to do something on pump or reach in the pit with water in it and the pump has a electrical short you can get electrocuted .Im pretty sure water will not trip breaker unless it's gfi protected . I would put a gfi for 20 dallors its not worth taking a chance.

Something to consider- if your outlet is down a series of outlets and the first one in line is a gfi then it very well maybe protected..

If you have a gfi near by press the test button and see if it kills power to the outlet you will be using. If so you're fine.

If not, I would just swap it out to s gfi outlet for a few $ it's very easy to do.
