Ground Blind Help

I bought an Ameristep Doghouse ground blind and will be deploying it for the first time ever; I'm new to this. Do you guys use those stabilizer straps or not?

I hunted with a Doghouse several years ago.  I just used the yellow tent stakes you can buy at Walmart to hold it down.  

It's funny you should mention that... I bought 4 of the orange headed metal stake ones from Walmart.

You cannot over stake and over tie off a ground blind on windy days.  At least that has been my experience in them.

I agree.  And in the winter cut a stick to prop up inside when not hunting to keep the snow from collapsing it.

All sounds good o hunt out of one all the time . Great blind for the money

I use 12" steel stakes that are about 1/2" thick for the 4 corners, and 8" stakes that are 1/3" thick for the 4 sides.  I never use the cheap, thin crap that comes with blinds.

So do I.  Except for last winter when I waited too long.  Bye, bye blind.  And I add a cut tennis ball over the stick so it doesn't poke through.

I recently bought a Doghouse blind and installed it a few weeks ago. They are a very tight blind especially with a crossbow. So, keep that in mind.

I bought it to take my daughter (5 yr old) with me Xbow hunting.  Not sure if it will ever happen but a guy can hope.  I might also use it gun hunting as well.  Luckily for me I'm not that big.

I use 550 cord on the back loops and secure it to trees as a secondary to the stakes
