Damn right, it is tough not to follow the impulse to go after your deer. Remember to bring your bow along, you may find him bedded but alive and need a finisher.

Very good move! I lost my biggest jersey buck because I didn't leave him overnight and just kept pushing him ..then when I did get a tracking dog I pushed way too far and even the dog couldn't find him....that's a dead deer, you'll find him in the a.m!

Yeah, if you are gonna be back, higher is better than lower.  You probably did clip one lung and get some liver.  He won't go far if he's not pushed.

Smart move waiting and calling a dog. You will fill it for sure. Probably be dead with in 150 yards as long as not pushed. It almost looked like you may caught lung the way he was breathing.. looked like it was quarthering away at the shot. What heads are you shooting?

I can't see the exit hole. Looked like a good shot even with the buck reacting he was slightly quartering away

The way he is panting I'm sure you caught the lungs. Get a good nights rest. You will need that energy in the morning to drag him out. He will be dead not far from the last place you saw him. Good luck.
