Dark side / hang on tree stand

Recommended Posts

So I pulled the trigger and went for broke again and went to the dark side and bought  an X bow.  Wicked Ridge invader x4.  I also bought my first hang on tree stand Millennium M150 and millennium climbing sticks.  I’m looking for recommendations on crossbow holders for up in tree/ and any other accessories anyone recommends to use while up in a hang on stand.  I currently only have used a ladder stand and just use the screw in tree hooks.  I appreciate any advice!

I use shooting sticks and leave the crossbow resting on the sticks and my lap.  Good luck with your new gear and have fun.

P.S.  I've heard that people really like the Steddy Eddie monopod for their crossbows too.

I use two different style holders for my bow/crossbow.  The one for the tree I use a piece of rope and make a smaller version of the safety harness "life line" that attaches to the tree. When I make the prusik knot I attach a "S" hook that is larger on one end and open it up more for easy removal of either my bow or crossbow and with that prusik knot I can adjust the height if needed.   Also, for my climber and other treestands I have a holder attached made from "Third Hand Archery" thats good for both bow or crossbow.  The rope one is quick, easy and quiet. I use to use different screw in ones and they got to be a pain in the ass for me after a while

For all my stands, climbers and hang ons, I use bow holders by Third Hand Archery. It works with both crossbows and Compounds. It mounts in front of you, providing additional cover and you can put it there and take it out with one hand, and not much movement. It always comes with your stand, you will never forget it. The pictures below are on the same stand you just purchased.

I wrap a double loop around the stock so I can hang it arrow down.  I dont like to hang it from the stirrup with the arrow up.  I've tried steady eddy and bringing a shooting stick in a hang on, never liked it.  Too restricting and one more thing to think about when shooting.  When in a hangon, I'm shooting off hand.  I try to rest an elbow on my knee or belly if possible.  I keep my shot distance close when in a hangon.

I hang my xbow on a hook. They make ones that extend out and will support the weight of a xbow. I highly recommend the Steddy Eddy. It is made for Ten Points, but it fit fine on my PSE Fang. Way to go IMO
