Personal best fluke today - thanks hammer

Recommended Posts

I’ve been saying to Dan one of these days I have to catch A Fluke over 6 pounds well he put me on a really good one today we worked hard and very tough drift conditions and what was it otherwise beautiful day weatherwise to fill the box and we were releasing 19 to 22 inch FLuke holding three slots open for the chance at some more big ones but the conditions got tougher and tougher when It came  to the drift. This was obviously my personal best for Fluke at 8 1/2 pounds and 27 1/4 inches

Congrats on doing it right and finally landing a good one.

we had a bunch of nice fish today. throwing back about as many keepers as we put in the ice hotel .

Thought we would get a decent drift back at days end but it just wasn't going to happen.

That's why im such a stickler at fishing hard while the bite is good.

Conditions were good the first 2 hours of the day, and the rest was just a grind .

So I am starting out with bucktails watching Dan Scott and Tracey bailing 20-23” fluke and I can’t buy a hit. So I said ok lets see what a foot long strip of salted Delaware shad will do.  Wasn’t long and got the big thump and had I not been rehearsing in my mind how to fight a big fluke from Dan telling me several times - cuz I woulda horsed it and lost it.  The technique  worked like a charm on a fairly light rod. I did pick up several on bucktails later on though and can’t believe I was releasing 19.5” fluke but those guys filled their limit so fast with bigger fish and realeasing bigger fish I couldn’t do it. Ok now for a true doormat = 10+ lbs.

Great flattie Jack. Congrats.  Looks like you had a great day. Dan usually gets on good ones.

I can't wait to get out there after a week and half not here fishing.

Beautiful fish Jack, congrats.  When you fish with a Pro, good things happen. 💪
