Eastern Shore Maryland Deer Outiftter Recommendations???

Recommended Posts

Talbot County Outfitters.  I hunted 2x with them  Corey is the main guy there.  Great properties and they work for you.  I think the best hunting in MD is their early muzzy season.  Its the 3rd week in October.  Otherwise, just go down when its not likely to be too hot.

I've heard good things about Muddy Bottom outfitters but I've never hunted with them...

For starters, the nicest buck harvested last year was shot by a "client" on opening day. He shot a 12 pt in velvet. However, with everyone in camp on opening day, no one got to see it. Turns out that the "client" was a long time friend and local butcher. He shot that buck on a "special property”.

Outside of shady shit like that, poor choice of stand locations when it came to wind and just general movement of deer on their properties. With the thousands of acres, they pile everyone up on one or two properties. Putting bow hunters in gun spots, etc.

From what the cameras show and what others have seen in the Eastern Shores, there are some REAL nice bucks. Tempted to try and find a lease myself, but the way MBO runs their stuff, unless you are buddy buddy, its not for you.

I know people who have hunted with John and thought it was a good experience. If I remember right, he has very reasonable, daily rates, or maybe like a 3 day rate, something like that.

when i was down there last year for a sika hunt, our guide said the area was hit bad with blue tongue.

he only did sika hunts to pay for the leases for whitetails, for himself. takes off november to hunt whitetails.

he was talking about giving it up, because most of his whitetails had died. i never did see a whitetail in the crop fields when down there.

I hunted with BJ guide service back in the mid 90s. It was the worst decision I ever made. I knew I was in trouble when we would blow all the deer off the field in the am driving his truck through the field to the edge of the woods. Then being put in a stand 20yds in. It was cheap and I was young. You know the saying, you get what you pay for.
