I honestly have no idea.  I was told this by our guides, but they probably all got their information from our head guide who is a caribou hunter.  He has not been able to hunt for them for 8 years now as he lives in Labrador and was born there.  But he is a high school science teacher and knew his stuff on other topics we talked about.  On a complete aside, he had to shoot a polar bear threatening a local village and their other camp, an Arctic char camp to the north last year.  The pictures were impressive as those are huge bears!  His was a "medium sized" 1,000 lb bear he said.
