Indian Food, How Is It?

Try Mantra in Paramus, innovative Indian food, I am not a fan of the gloppy, heavy stuff, but love the flavors of their spices and such. Not all Indian food is hot spicy, go for flavors.

Food safety is something I teach where I work, (ServSafe instructor/Procter) so, every restaurant you go in, look first for health certificate. If it is satisfactory then look for the Blue, ServSafe certificate(s) and ask them to have at least one to come out, also if they have a ServSafe managers certificate that is even better because it is a very in depth program and hard to pass. Generally speaking, look around and see if the place is maintained, dust on lighting and stuff on the wall, I am out. If the dining room staff handles themselves in a hygienic way you are pretty safe, but if they pick their nose or touch their hair, RUN

That Course I had to Take and renew It is required to be a Salvation Army Disaster Volunteer. Since we Cook and Serve Food. We constantly are Cleaning the Cantens we serve from since most of the time it is at a disaster with a lot of things that contaminate it. But any Training is only as good as the person practicing it. I have walked out when I see the Same person clearing the tables using the same Rag and then reset that Table or bring you water with their hand over the glass.  And this can be at what you think is a Clean Restaurant with Mexicans in the kitchen who have never had a Shots or Health Checks & ServSafe training.

 smell makes me nauseous.

Back in college I unloaded containers of curry at night.  It came in 100 lb burlap sacks and 2 guys would work together using hooks to hump the loads off the containers.  At the end of a shift you were covered in yellow powder, I can still smell curry in my sleep.

I've made it many times (venison), it's quite good. Thai curry with deer meat is good also, any recipe that calls for goat works well with venison.

But I wiped my ass with toilet paper, and washed both hands well with soap and water before any food preparation started. In case anyone is interested.:cook2:;)

Catch & release is for guys who don't know how to cook. :cook:

I have a few friends that are Indian and I am not sure they would find some parts of this discussion appropriate, lots of generalizations based on a culture and race.  The fact of the matter is every race and ethnic background has the good, the bad, and the ugly.

On another topic Pho Thai-Lao Kitchen in Maywood has some awesome food.  They have up to a level 5 and the max I can do is level 3.  Even with a 3 the owner usually leaves me a pitcher of water on the table.

Vey true but even if and when they See & Hear negative words. They are above the Ignorance and Bigotry it is in their Culture of Tolerance.   They Practice and live their Beliefs. The friends I know feel America is their New Home but also feel they are Guests. And respect their Hosts.  I was Taught In Church Sunday School by our teacher That Saying This is my Black Friend --Now add Indian friend the point it was somehow racists Rather than Just Saying This is My Freind.  Just as you mentioned a Few Friends rather than My Indian Friends. Just as curry is repulsive to some Garlic is to Others.
