Don't feed the deer bill moves forward

Recommended Posts

I’m Lazy that’s why I don’t bait. A lot of work hauling corn on your shoulders. :piney:

I'll haul the corn, you shoot the deer.  I'll even wear my cat mask.

Baiting is just one tool to utilize in hunting and to call people who bait "lazy" is an ignorant statement. I hunt a couple of smaller wood lots surrounded by houses on a management hunt and baiting helps pull deer away from the homes and helps set up for a safer shot.

One must first sweat carrying in the the bait. Before the deer can eat the bait.

:hijack: Not so just some thoughts.

Intentional deer feeding :doh2: if there was ever a Loaded law misdirected this is one. IMO besides being discriminatory, it is misdirected.  Sure it is not a natural thing that has animals becoming dependant on handouts.  So the old Lady feeding them in her backyard will become illegal. But Someone who puts out Piles of Bait. Or Plants a Food Plot is OK. To get overboard what about Farmers who feed them with their Plantings. Where do they draw the line? I know of many people and Places where deer are Fed on a regular basis. and yes it is widespread and out in the open.  I have seen from say 6 deer to almost 100 deer Gather in some of the Feeding Spots and Yes in New Jersey.  From a Resturant That Is Famous for Feeding the deer by Ringing a bell and they come to a Running right up to the windows of the restaurant to the Corn Piles for entertainment for the Diners.    To a Person who for decades fed close to that 100 Deer in his backyard, I was privileged to know him as he allowed my Family to sit on his porch and watch.  Both Year-round. within Miles of each other. some Oldtimers know of these places. and it is smake in the middle of the Largest Hunting Lands in NJ.   Hunting was allowed in the surrounding areas of these 2 sites but had little impact on them. On both Private and Public Land.  One thing is sure the number of those deer have gone down as the Majority of that Valley has become open to Hunting, And the loss of Farming there.  It is amazing how so-called Hunters ( Opportunists ) for a better word Complain it hurts their Little Spot Amongst 1000s upon 1000s  on Acres of Huntable lands.  Just because they see no deer in that spot does not mean the Herds are Lower. Or that someone is feeding them intentionally be it Passive or baiting - Food Plots.  There were times NJFG planted food plots or leased out and required some planting be left as Food. Might add in the same valley in this post. The Quality of the Bucks sure has gotten better over the Years could it be Thinning has anything to do with it.  Deer range in Small areas they stay with the Available Food and water. When baiting was Not done and farms were doing what was called dirty harvesting deer moved more in search of available Food.  In Ending That Little old lady with some handouts is not to Cause of you not seeing or Harvesting a deer it is your lack of Gaining knowledge to Get out and explore Network.  And Yes There are 1000s of acres where there Deer and Hunters but that can work in your favor rather than Bitching he's in my Spot he puts out Food ( Bait ) and all the deer go to them. Sorry if the shoe fits but post after post are the same Complaints.  Stop looking for a Spot next to the Raod with easy access and Parking.  Stop investing the time to outfit a spot with all the BS of bait Stands and come to The Hunt the same spot as others next to you. Be Mobile adapt to use them to your advantage.  Areas that have no hunters mean no deer when it could mean no one to move them.            Lastly, I thank The farmers who intentionally fed the deer over the Years I hunted for my success.  Hunting was the only management needed.  Do you think if I told you about a 40 Miles of open Hunting  Mountains Feilds River with 1000s upon 1000s of areas of prime Deer lands you could find One? The house is on that 40 Miles do you recognize it. then you found the secret lands

Its not discriminatory or misdirected. Feeding nuisance animals is disallowed in many places, and rightfully so. Deer in residential neighborhoods are nuisance. Just because some old lady likes herds of deer in her back yard does not mean her neighbors  should be exposed to this type of unnatural behavior of wild animals that cam be easily prevented.  Compering baiting for the purpose of thinning the herd to feeding for entertainment is not a well though out idea. Where do we draw the lien? We draw the line right in the old ladies back yards since her feeding of deer has undesirable and even dangerous consequences to everyone around her.

My town passed a ordinance a couple of years ago to prevent feeding wildlife.  Bird feeders still permitted but have to be at least 5’ high....  no enforcement whatsoever.....  oh, yeah, the deer still bed down in my  back yard and feast on my lawn.....

Methods and Means can be twisted to suit one's own agenda. What is unnatural is Purposely feeding Deer in any Manner.  As even an innocent Backyard bird feeder causes dependency on the natural food sources.  What is the difference between Planting a Deer Food Plot- Placing a Mineral Salt block out? Dumping Corn Apples or any other Unnatural food sources to Alter The Habits of any Wildlife ( Deer )                  Thin The Deer BS Deer follow and are attracted to their food sources.  Read the post were the poster baits in a small area surrounded by House Does that piss off those homeowners does it put undesirable even dangerous consequences to those Homeowners  Or where Posters Complain about Baiting ruining their Sacred Spot. Want to stop Unnatural Behavior STOP Unnatural Feeding in all its Forms.  Any form of discriminatory or directed Unnatural feeding should be disallowed not just by Little old ladies. Whats good for one is good for all.   Hunting has evolved to the point of Commercialism where instant Success is Sought after. And NJDFAG Caterers to the Demands. With 100s of days, almost unlimited numbers of deer one can Shoot.  And The Means to do it. All With Licencing Fees everyone Bitches about.   And yes I am Old Rule when Hunting was just that Not a recreation and not even a sport anymore, Of course, these are just My opinions and I respect others opinions and Methods that Are Legal.          In ending you once had a problem with my Spelling and Grammer in my posts hope I am doing better since yous is riddled with bad Spelling and Grammer.  :)

Look back to the early days of NJW&W.  I indicated that a reading/writing comprehension test should be required as part of the login process.  You see how that went .................

"Whats good for one is good for all" is an empty and not very logical slogan.  Almost with everything, including deer feeding/baiting,  the purpose and result has to be considered.  It's a public health and safety  issue and that's one of the reasons we are allowed to bait and hunt deer. To say the old lady should have the same right goes against the purpose of baiting, which is separating wild life from people.

All the little old lady has to do is take the archery test, pay the State for a license, and give all the deer on her bait pile a pass while waiting for one to grow into a 200" monster that will just end up being poached by someone else.

Hunting was so important to you that you obviously skipped English class every single day to hunt.
