Recommended Posts

Saw it on FB

New thrift store coming Bordentown

We are located at 69 US 130 Bordentown NJ

Come visit us at Bordentown Big E’s thrift shop and Antiques. We have over 20 vendors selling different items from used to new. New inventory weekly. Our store is opening soon. This store is huge. In my section I will be posting the items I’m selling plus other vendors items as well. Also the other vendors will be using this page as well to post their items.

I guess the $25 gift card I won from them is now worthless.  I was in the area last year, and went to use the gift card the place was empty

Yeah it's been a long time coming. Was getting less and less inventory for the past couple years. He just has the Safe department left now. Years ago it was a great place and shot the archery leagues there.

My wife dragged me in there yesterday just out of curiosity, was not mentally prepared to see all that crap all over the place.  Hurt my brain a little as I was remembering the glory days of that store 10-15+ years ago.

Been exactly 27 years since my last visit there, manning the UBNJ booth during the "Deer Classic".  It was a very impressive place back then.

Really a shame that it's gone.

I remember making the trip up when they use to have that jamboree/classic show. Always had a great time, and that place was packed.

was the place to be in the 80's and 90's.

Owner had hired the best in the business to run each dept. and it brought alot of traffic into the store.

while it hasnt been the same the last bunch of years, its still sad to see what was a good store go

It’s hard to feel bad for them. They did it to themselves. The help became more and more arrogant and, at times, flat out nasty to customers. I’ve told my stories about that place on here enough. But, any business that doesn’t treat their customers with respect and a smile on their face is doomed.

How sad indeed...

Lots of fond memories there...Shooting leagues, buying bow, etc....

I remember when during the late summer, there were so many customers there, the bow counter was two rows deep with people waiting for help... Now a junk store...WOW!!!

I’m sure the thrift store will honor it in the hunting section! lol

Sad though yes!

You have to wonder how someone could take a thriving business like that and destroy it in 5 or 6 years.

Very sad.

Many years ago, before I moved to Morris County, I lived in Scotch Plains for many years where big Ray's Sport Shop was. Still, I always got on the highway and made the drive to Sportsman's Center to buy and BS with those guys.

I kinda read the writing on the wall years ago about their downhill slide. Low inventory, their best archery techs leaving, poor quality gear and clothing, etc.. From what I've been told the owner didn't care or was just getting old and senile. Too bad, at one time they ruled the roost.

Sat through my trappers ed class there years back (classroom portion), then we did the "practical" part the following day on a farm just down the road ... Sad to see yet another NJ sports shop disappear.   :-(
