Which deer would you shoot?

Recommended Posts

I had a hard time of it this year just to hunt. My choices were few when I did go. My camera showed the same small group. I just couldn't bring myself to take one out. I will try another spot that's close to the road on what looks to be a more productive area.....in town..almost

I'd shoot the spike or the button, but leave the doe.  Taking 1 young buck out of the herd isn't going to do anything.  I'd leave the doe as breeding stock.

Since I'm guessing you're not hunting on 1000 acres of your own private property, you removing 1 young buck has basically nothing to do with the overall herd numbers in that area

You think you have "which deer to shoot"  decision problems?

I am struggling between these two - one is a typical 10 very symmetrical, the other is a split G3 11pt...  I can't decide which one will score higher, as that split G3 will be penalized as a deduction if I kill it and enter it as a typical buck.   Still - I think it would make a great shoulder mount and both will overflow the freezer with meat...

I am really struggling here...  What would you do?  I still have a few bow hunts left in me on this permit bow tag.
