Can anyone confirm that a 1068 lb. Boar with a 23 11/16 skull kill occurred today in Northern NJ? Rumors are rolling.

I wouldn't doubt it, it's a fact NJ has some of the biggest bears....NB, Canada in 1972 had a bear dress out at 902 lbs

Considering some of the bears that have been killed and confirmed in the past few years, it doesn't seem so far fetched to me. Even if this story isn't confirmed, I don't doubt that there's a 1000lb bear roaming somewhere in Jersey.

Wouldn't doubt it at all.

 

About 30 yrs ago maybe more now. A guy I knew a friend of my dad's also a guide in the ADK shot a bear that they estimated over a 1000 lbs. The hide alone weighed almost 300 they draped the hide over a VW beetle at the local bar and it all but covered it. Problem was that he shot it 26 miles back from the nearest rd so they had no choice but to cut it up to get it out. Therefore wasn't eligible for any records. I remember coming across a story about it in one of the outdoor magazines a while back.

 

Also know that there are a few in PA that are tagged and they where in the high 900lb range so a 1000 lbder in NJ is very possible. They grow fast here.

Just talked to my friend who works with the NJ Bear Program and he said that the story is 100 percent false. They got a few 600 pounders in but, nothing bigger than that.

Here is a pic someone sent me that was suooosed to be over 1000 lbs. probably BS though - this bear could be 500 for all I know.
